General questions

Are the products an alternative to liquid bleach?

Yes, absolutely. They are used as a substitute.

How many litres of conventional bleach does each bottle of Cleanpill tablets equal?
  • 8 tablets – 1 litre of conventional bleach
  • 1 bottle of 48 tablets (160gr) – 6 L of conventional bleach
  • 1 bottle of 150 tablets (500g) – 18,5 L of conventional bleach
  • 1 bottle of 300 tablets (1Kg) – 37 L of conventional bleach
I have doubts about the use of the tablets. I have always used bleach. But I see that, with this product, it is stated that 8 tablets are equivalent to 1 L of bleach and that 1 tablet should be used in a bucket. If I compare this with the recommendation given for liquid bleach: it is 100 ml per bucket.

If you dilute 8 tablets in 1 litre of water, then you can put 100 ml in each bucket of water and therefore you get 10 doses. We recommend 1 tablet per bucket to guarantee disinfection.

What are the main advantages of the tablets?

Ease of use and dosage, safety, volume, weight and space saving and also economic savings. On the other hand, it improves the environment, since, being solid tablets, the plastic containers are smaller and the leftover product is used… Cleanpill saves on water transport, favours recycling and does not generate waste.

Why do the tablets represent a significant economic saving?

Because the production of liquid bleach in Spain has been reduced by approximately 45% in the last year and, therefore, the price is becoming more expensive.

What is the dosage of the products?

Each product has different dosages. See the technical data sheets.

Bleach spoils the colour of the clothes, does it also spoil the multi-purpose tablets?

No, this is another advantage. In case of accidental contact with the clothes, the tablet itself does not stain, although we recommend not to leave it on any garment because, in case of humidity, the tablet could start to act and one of its effects is bleaching. Once dissolved, the degree of concentration in water is so small that it will not discolour clothes if splashed. For more information: see questions on the use of multi-purpose tablets in the washing machine.

Can the tablets be used on steel?

No, they cannot be used on metals. Only in special cases and with a very low concentration (recommended by the manufacturer in the data sheet). Otherwise, they may corrode.

Can pills be taken with unprotected hands?

We recommend wearing gloves. If you do not wear gloves, you must wash your hands with water once the tablets have been in contact with your skin. You can also use the cap itself to facilitate dosing and to avoid touching the tablet with your hand.

Can I keep the opened bottle with the pills inside?

No, mainly for safety reasons. Also to avoid dust and moisture. If a drop of water were to fall (being such a small amount of water), it would cause all the chlorine to be released and it would smell very strong.

What is the shelf life of the product? What happens if the product is out of date?

The tablet loses 1% chlorine after 3 years. In other words, it is still rich, even if the tablets are used at a later date. It continues to have more than 95% of the product’s effectiveness.

What kind of customers do you sell the tablets to?

Drugstores, small supermarket chains, distributors of livestock companies, cleaning companies, distributors of hotel and catering products…

Disinfectant tablets Cleanpill

What can I use the multi-purpose tablets for and how? Do they contain bleach or ammonia? I am not clear about the ingredients listed and I am allergic to some products.

They are used for floors, surfaces, linen, dishwashers and toilets. They remove 99.9% of bacteria. One effervescent tablet has to be diluted in water. They do not contain ammonia. They are effervescent tablets that replace conventional liquid bleach.

Does this product contain bleach? I have read the packaging, but I don’t fully understand the composition.

Bleach by definition is a liquid product and is alkaline base with sodium hypochlorite. Orache Desinfection manufactures sodium dichloroisocyanurate tablets, which is an acid. Once dissolved in water, it makes the same effect as liquid bleach.

Are they corrosive like liquid bleach?

They are corrosive, but less so than liquid bleach.

How long does it take to dissolve?

The dissolution time is between 30 seconds and two minutes, depending on the temperature of the water. The hotter the water, the sooner it dissolves. Even if the tablet has not been completely dissolved, you can already use that water to scrub or disinfect any surface: floor scrubbers, surface cleaning, toilet, laundry bleach…

Does hot water eliminate the disinfecting power of the product?

No. However, it is advisable to dilute the tablet at room temperature for a perfect disinfection, because the higher the temperature, the less stable the chlorine is.

How long does the scent last in the scented multi-purpose tablets?

You can smell the perfume as soon as you open the bottle. This perfume prevents the product from smelling of chlorine. The best-selling perfumes are: mint and lemon. And Red Fruits, the latest development we have launched, is in great demand by our customers.

Do the scented multi-purpose tablets also contain chlorine?

Yes. 81% SDIC 55, so 45% active chlorine (0.81 x 0.55 = 0.45).

What is the composition of Orache Multipurpose tablets? What does “Excipients q.s.c.:” mean?

They contain Sodium Dichloroisocyanurate dihydrate (81%), Excipients q.s.: 100%. In other words, q.s.c. means: “sufficient quantity to” reach 100%. Another way of expressing it would be: Excipients 19%. Both ways are correct.

Use as a floor cleaner

Is one all-purpose tablet enough to scrub the floor?

It depends on the size of the surface. What you will notice is that the water ends up much dirtier, which means that you have cleaned more. We suggest 1 tablet for a 5 L bucket.

Any soil incompatibilities? Wood… could it be?

No problem on wood, plastics or ceramics.

Use as a bleaching agent in the washing machine

Can the multi-purpose tablets be used only for white linen? And for coloured linen?

Yes, in principle only for white clothes. Thanks to the 30% bleaching agents, it leaves the laundry very white. If the laundry is coloured and has the CL symbol on the label, it can also be used (only 1 tablet). If there is no CL symbol on the label, they are not recommended.

Are the multi-purpose tablets to be placed in the washing machine drawer or directly in the drum?

It is recommended to put them in the drawer, to avoid the tablet going round and round in the drum, getting into a pocket and not dissolving properly.

How many multi-purpose tablets are needed for the washing machine?

For each drum of 4-5 kilos of linen, 1 tablet.

Dishwasher use

When it is said that multi-purpose tablets eliminate odours in the dishwasher… is it true?

Odours come from the decomposition of organic matter by oxidation. Chlorine accelerates the decomposition of this organic matter, oxidises it and it disappears. In the dishwasher, a tablet is placed directly into the dishwasher, either at the bottom or in the tray (preferably in the plastic part). As the water enters the dishwasher, it will dissolve and leave the dishwasher free of organic matter. The contact time and the very low concentration of chlorine in the total water will not cause oxidation of metals. Normally dishwashers and washing machines are made of stainless steel. Another case would be if they are used in carbon steel, which will obviously cause rusting.

Where do I put the Orache Multipurpose tablets in the dishwasher?

They can be placed at the bottom of the dishwasher, in the plastic part or in the same tub with the detergent tablet, choose the programme and disinfect. Organic matter is easily removed, odours are eliminated and all the crockery is disinfected.

Use in the WC

I have a problem with my toilet: I get yellow stains and they don’t go away even when I flush the toilet. I don’t know how to remove them, is there any remedy?

They are usually algae. One of the applications of our Multipurpose tablets is for the toilet: 1 tablet is placed directly on the bottom or in the cistern itself. Leave to act for 5 minutes.

Are the Multipurpose tablets compatible with septic tanks?

Yes, they are compatible. But you can use a maximum of 2 tablets per week.

Other applications

Are the Multipurpose tablets suitable for sterilising baby utensils?

As bleach with a high concentration of chlorine, it is not recommended for sterilising baby utensils.

Regarding the cleaning of waste bins, rubbish bins and odour removal… How can I use it?

The way is to fill a bucket with water and disinfect the bucket with a damp cloth. In this way, organic matter and therefore odours are removed.

Can Orache Multipurpose tablets be used for the water tank of the caravan? I don’t dare to use bleach.

No. The recommended uses for the Multipurpose disinfectant tablets are: floor, surface, washing machine (bleaching agents), dishwasher and toilet. To treat the water in a caravan, Cleanpill Caravan tablets can be used.

I have used the Multipurpose tablets for kitchen worktops, pots and pans and cutlery. Afterwards, I read the caution / safety phrases on the label about the danger to the environment… I wonder if I have to throw away my kitchen utensils after using them.

No, because the tablets have been diluted in water for disinfection. And, they only pollute in very high quantities if they are thrown into the aquatic environment.

If I use the Livestock tablets to disinfect utensils that are in contact with my animals, e.g. the fillet of a horse, can the animal test positive for doping?

No, because the product is used once it is diluted in water and used to disinfect the facilities and utensils, but it is never mixed with the food that the animal ingests and, even if it were, the concentration is very low.

Can disinfectant tablets be used to clean the drool left inside a humidifier?

Unless the humidifier is made of metal, any of the Cleanpill Disinfectant tablets can be used.

Which product can be used to clean the inside ducts of water dispensers? Food safety is required as the water passes internally through the machine.

The recommended product would be HA Food Industry disinfectant tablets.

Can the water purification tablets be used for human and animal consumption? And animal consumption?

In Europe, according to directive 98/83/EC, these tablets cannot be used for drinking water either for human or animal consumption, only in emergency situations decreed by the competent health authority and on a temporary basis. In other parts of the world it is permitted.

Oflacher

How do you know if the film is water-soluble?

This type of packaging is transparent, it does not have tinted text on it. It dissolves in water, so it does not have to be removed from the tablets and put into the appliance.

What are the uses of the anti-limescale tablets?

Washing machines: Remove the tablet from its packaging and insert it into the washing machine drum, even with clothes inside. It is suitable for all types of fabrics, it does not damage them. To prevent limescale build-up: use one tablet for each wash. To remove limescale build-up more thoroughly: insert 3 tablets, without their wrapping, into the empty drum of the washing machine. Select a washing programme of at least 40°C and wait for it to finish.

Irons: Remove the tablet from its packaging and place it in a basin of water. Once dissolved, put this mixture into the water tank of the iron. Plug in the iron. To clean the water outlet, spray several times. To clean the steam holes, turn on the steam generator button. Once it has cooled down, fill the tank again and repeat the process, but this time only with water to remove the remains of the mixture.

Taps: With a pair of pliers, remove the nozzles from the taps, put them all in a basin with water and 1 tablet. Leave them for 20 minutes and then remove them from the water and rinse them. Then put them back in the tap.

Technical information

On the FT Surface Tablets it states “yield 2 tablets per litre of water”. What does “yield” mean?

If you put 2 tablets in 1 litre of water, you get 3,000 ppm of chlorine. That is the yield.

What is the meaning of PURE pH 0.3-1? I understand that products of pH 0 to 6.5 are acidic.

The tablet before it is dissolved has a very low pH, as it is an acidic product. Once diluted, the resulting pH is 6.5.

Do you have any products that are completely neutral, alkaline or acidic?

All products have a neutral pH between 6 and 7 when dissolved. As an alkaline product it would be the degreaser, the fryer tablets.

What is the raw material of the product?

Sodium dichloroisocyanuric dihydrate, also called: SDIC 55, sodium troclosene.

When disinfectant tablets are dissolved, how many parts of free chlorine per million (ppm) are there?

For disinfectant tablets: each 3.35 g disinfectant tablet contains 1.5 g of active chlorine, so one tablet dissolved in 1 litre of water results in 1500 ppm of active chlorine.

How much sodium hypochlorite results after dissolving the tablet in water?

Are disinfectant tablets biodegradable?

As with all biocidal or disinfectant products, biodegradability is incompatible with biocidal or disinfectant activity, which is defined as the ability of a material or substance to be broken down by the metabolic action of microorganisms.

Cleanpill is a mixture of troclosene sodium (sodium dichloroisocyanurate) and adipic acid.

In this mixture, the active substance or disinfection molecule is the troclosene (sodium dichloroisocyanurate) in the solution. This solution is balanced in the pH range due to the acid action of the adipic acid.

The biodegradability of the product can only be understood if the biodegradability of the individual components in the mixture is known.
